Dr. Vadim Gushchin, PFCCAP board member, recently attended the joint congress of the Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI) and the International Society for Study of Pleural and Peritoneum (ISSPP), the two major international organizations dedicated to the management of peritoneal surface malignancies. He presented on advanced cytoreductive surgical techniques, including a compelling case of a patient who had been denied surgery by two peritoneal surface malignancy centers due to the extensive nature of the disease. Dr. Gushchin successfully performed the complex procedure, giving this patient a new chance at life!
In addition, Dr. Gushchin took the time to meet with leading centers that train surgeons in cytoreductive surgery and are working to introduce a new CRS assessment tool for trainees. This tool promises to elevate the standards of care and improve outcomes for future patients. He also engaged with other leading surgical oncologists about the Abdominal Cancers Alliance and our work to spread awareness to the public and physicians alike.
Our team is grateful for Dr. Gushchin's dedication to advancing the field and connecting with colleagues worldwide. Stay tuned for more updates on how these collaborations will continue to shape the future of abdominal cancer treatment. 💙
